FAQs
What are the steps to rent a dumpster?
We've developed a straightforward five-step process to rent a dumpster:
- Tell us what you're tossing.
- We'll recommend a size.
- Pick a delivery day.
- Load your waste.
- Reach out for pickup.
Check out our simple dumpster rental guide for more detailed instructions on how to prepare for your container's arrival.
How should I prep my driveway for delivery?
Please keep your driveway clear of any obstacles such as parked cars, basketball hoops, low-hanging branches or kids toys. This will give our drivers the chance to place the bin directly where you requested.
Additionally, some people like to mark the placement locations with cones to ensure no one accidentally parks their car or leaves something in the area.
How is my dumpster price determined?
We take a number of factors and combine them into one straightforward price. These factors include:
- Delivery location
- Fuel prices
- Landfill fees
- Weight allowance
- Rental period
- Size rented
- Disposal fees
Will I be charged if there is prohibited debris in my dumpster?
Most likely, yes. When we take your waste to the landfill or transfer station, workers sort through your waste to determine where it needs to go. If they discover a prohibited item, they will send a bill, which we then will send to you as a separate invoice.
When you place your order, we'll talk through any prohibited items with you to help you avoid any unwanted fees from the landfill.
Where does my dumpster's trash go?
In San Diego, most trash is taken to the Miramar Landfill, located at 5180 Convoy Street.
Can my dumpster block the sidewalk?
Yes, but you may need to get the city's permission first as the sidewalk is a public right-of-way. If you can't fit the entire dumpster in your driveway, reach out to the city of San Diego to apply for a Right-of-Way Permit.
Could I be charged an overage fee?
Overage fees are possible, but easily avoidable. When you order, we'll ask specific questions to determine the weight of your debris. This way we can ensure a tonnage allowance that will fit your waste and greatly reduce the risk of an overage fee from the landfill.
What happens if I toss a prohibited item?
If we notice a prohibited item when we arrive for pickup, we can't collect the container, which may result in a failed trip fee. If we do pick up the dumpster, the landfill may charge a contamination fee when your load is dumped and sorted. In this case, you will receive a separate invoice for the charge. We’ll be sure to review all of these details with you when you set up your order.
