Scheduling Another Bin: Empty-and-Return or Swap-Out Service?
If your dumpster fills up before the job is done, you have a couple of options. Empty-and-return service brings the same size dumpster back to the same site after we haul away and empty your full container. A swap-out lets you request a different dumpster size or have a container delivered to a new location.
How to Schedule Empty-and-Return Service
Empty-and-return service is designed for jobs that need another dumpster of the same size, at the same address.
1. Visit the Service Dashboard
Open your confirmation email or text and select the link to your Service Dashboard.
2. Select 'Order a New Bin'
Enter the requested details and submit the form.
3. Watch for Confirmation
We'll charge the card on file for the new dumpster and send your invoice and order confirmation by email.
4. We Haul Away Your Full Dumpster
Make sure the area around the dumpster is accessible for pickup.
5. We Return the Same Size Dumpster
Your replacement container will be delivered to the same drop-off location, ready for another load.
6. Continue Your Project
Once the new dumpster is in place, you can pick up where you left off.
How to Arrange a Dumpster Swap-Out
A swap-out may be the better option if you need a different dumpster size or want the next dumpster delivered to a different location.
1. Reach Out to Our Team
Call or text us at 855-619-2500 to request another dumpster in a different size or at a new location.
2. Confirm Your Next Dumpster
Our team will help arrange the container based on your needs and availability.
3. We Deliver the New Container
We’ll drop off the dumpster to the requested location. Once the new dumpster is in place, you can resume your project.
What to Know About Deadlines and Turnaround Times
Service Timing
Submit your empty-and-return request, or contact us for a swap-out, as early as possible. Turnaround times depend on dumpster availability in your area.
Site Access
Keep the area around your full dumpster clear of obstacles, and make sure the drop-off zone for the new container is accessible.
Clearance Requirements
Plan for about 60 feet by 10.5 feet of flat, paved space and 25 to 30 feet of overhead clearance for the delivery truck and dumpster.
FAQs About Ordering Another Dumpster
Can I keep two dumpsters in the same driveway?
You may be able to keep two dumpsters at the same property, but the available space and delivery setup need to work for both containers. Each dumpster needs enough room for safe delivery and pickup, including the required clearance around and above the drop zone.
If you're planning to keep your current dumpster and add another one, contact our team so we can help determine the best setup for your site.
Is it better to estimate high on dumpster needs or order a second unit later?
For a one-time project where you have a fairly good idea of how much debris you'll have, ordering the size you need upfront is usually the simplest option. If you go over the dumpster's included weight allowance, you'll simply pay a pro-rated, per-ton overage fee based on the extra weight.
If you have an ongoing project or know you'll have enough debris to fill multiple dumpsters, empty-and-return service or a swap-out can make more sense. This lets you clear a full container and bring in another one as the project progresses. Not sure which option fits your job? Contact our team and we'll help you choose.
How are weight limits calculated on a swap-out vs. empty-and-return service?
The included weight allowance is based on the dumpster size and terms of your rental agreement. Empty-and-return service uses the same dumpster size, so the replacement container will have the same weight limit as your original dumpster.
If you request a different dumpster size for a swap-out, the included weight allowance can change with the new container size. If your debris exceeds the dumpster’s included weight allowance, you’ll pay a pro-rated, per-ton fee for the extra weight.
Does requesting a swap-out reset my rental period timeframe and base rates?
Yes. An empty-and-return is treated like a new rental of the same dumpster size at the same location. Your replacement dumpster will have the same price and rental period as your original rental.
For a swap-out, you'll receive a new price based on the new dumpster size or location. The rental period also starts fresh for the new dumpster.
How is an empty-and-return or swap-out performed?
The way an empty-and-return or swap-out is performed can vary depending on the equipment and routing available in your area.
- Empty-and-return: Your full dumpster is typically picked up, taken to the landfill, emptied and returned to the same location. In some cases, the driver may bring an empty dumpster, place it at your site and then haul away the full one.
- Swap-out: Your full dumpster may be replaced with an empty dumpster during the same visit, or the full container may be picked up before the new one is delivered.
Note on dumpster dimensions: If an empty-and-return is completed using a replacement container, its outer dimensions may vary depending on the manufacturer, but the total volume capacity will remain the same as your original bin.
Why is the wrong rental information showing in my order form?
This usually happens when you access the Service Dashboard through an email or text for a different project. Return to the order confirmation email or text for the correct rental and use that link to open the dashboard again.
